Description
The Palatine Chapel inside of the Aachen Cathedral in Aachen, Germany. The octagonal Palatine Chapel dome was designed by Odo of Metz between 793 and 813. With its columns of Greek and Italian marble, and the largest mosaic of its dome, the Palatine Chapel of Aachen, has been perceived as an exceptional artistic creation. It was the first vaulted structure north of the Alps since Antiquity.
